Toronto Maple Leafs trade Jeff Carter to Colorado Avalanche for a conditional fourth-round pick

Toronto Maple Leaf’s Jeff Carter will be returning to Colorado after signing a two-year contract extension, NHL Network Insider Pierre LeBrun and ESPN.com’s Pierre LeBreton reported Tuesday.

The contract will pay Carter $1.75 million annually and include incentives.

“I’m looking forward to getting back on the ice with my teammates, getting back in the lineup and contributing to the team,” Carter said in a statement.

Carter is entering his fourth NHL season.

He has recorded nine goals and 19 assists in 63 games with Toronto this season.
